Acne is a type of inflammatory skin ailment characterized by pimples that appear on different parts of the body. This problem is very common among teenagers and is caused by vitamin deficiencies, improper diet, and stress and several other factors.
There is actually no known cure for acne. However, it can be treated or even prevented successfully. The first step to do this is simply to keep the skin dry and clean at all times.
Another tip is to use a skin cleanser that is non-aggravating and non-drying. You don’t need medicated cleansers as a simple non-comedogenic cleanser is enough. However you should ensure that the cleanser contains salicylic acid to exfoliate the skin and prevent it from drying out.
When washing your skin, be sure you avoid over scrubbing otherwise you are bound for an acne outburst. Instead, use a soft towel to wash and dry your face. Ideally, washing twice a day is enough but if you have oily skin, you may wash as often as needed.
For exceptionally oily skin, you can use astringents but be sure you avoid those alcohol-based ingredients because they can dry and eventually damage your skin.
Acne medication may also be considered in some cases. There are different over-the-counter medications you can find, most of which contain the basic ingredients to cure acne like resorcinol, sulphur, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide.
