Acne is a hassle. On the other hand, it is not a thing that can not be dealt with. There are loads of acne skincare solutions about. We are able to categorize acne skin care products into three broad categories –
* Preventative or General acne skin care products
* Over-the-counter, specialised acne skincare products
* Prescription acne skin care products.

The general acne skincare products are the ones that are employed as an acne-prevention measure. Included in this are cleansers, make-up removers and similar goods that aid the prevention of acne. In fact, these types of acne skincare products are exactly those which will anyway be part of your everyday skincare schedule. On the other hand, some of these tend to be more oriented to behave as an acne skin care product. These acne skincare products operate against the reasons for acne e.g. limiting the production of oil/sebum and protecting against blocking of pores. Essentially, these skincare products to prevent acne halt the oil from getting caught in pores and therefore hinder the growth of bacteria which are conducive to acne. The typical acne skin care products also include exfoliation products like skin peels. These work on eliminating dead skin cells, hence lowering the chance for pore-clogging and harmful bacteria development.

Then there are specialised acne skin care products that can be purchased over-the-counter i.e. with no need of a medical prescription. Included in this are items like vanishing creams which extract the excess oil through the skin. A large number of acne skin care products are produced from benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and therefore acne). You should start by having a product that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) to see how the skin responds with it.  Alpha-hydroxy-acid based skin lotions are also well known as acne skincare products. You may have to use a few, prior to deciding to zero-in on the acne skincare product that may be successful in your case. If nothing seems to deliver the results, you must make contact with a dermatologist.

On-prescription acne skincare products are those that are given on prescription by a dermatologist. This could include ointments that may be placed onto the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical treatment. A dermatologist can also suggest a medical procedure to remove the contents of pustules.  However, under no circumstances try and squeeze or do this on your own, it can cause permanent harm to your epidermis.  Your doctor could also prescribe a hormone-based treatment (since hormonal changes will also be proven to cause acne). This type of acne skin care products are known to be quite effective in some cases.

Thus you can see, with all of these acne skin care products, dealing with acne breakouts is not too tricky.
